Duncan Urquhart
Maintenance supervisor
Maintenance Supervisor Duncan joined the team in March 2021. After a career in the military, he completed his resettlement training in construction and spent almost a decade working on the renovation and construction of houses in his homeland of The Hebrides.
As part of our busy maintenance team, Duncan’s role sees him tend to maintenance requirements across the Estate. He will be the first to have ‘eyes on’ should any problems arise and he works with the Estate team and contractors to find the best solution. He also works on our rolling five-year cycle of residential repairs and renovations, as well as maintenance and construction projects within our commercial property portfolio.
Duncan enjoys De Beauvoir Town’s village feel and being part of a community. He says: “The tenants are at the heart of what the Benyon Estate does, from students through to families and a wide range of businesses, and I’m keen to get to know everyone and understand how I can help. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such a diverse and knowledgeable group of people at the Benyon Estate too.”
Duncan took over the role from John Bell, who had been part of the Estate team for almost 20 years: “John knows each of our tenants and the history of every single building, so it was extremely helpful to work with him before he left so he could pass on his knowledge and skills – I was hanging on his every word!”
Duncan is a keen cyclist, having represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 2006, so is enjoying being on his bike for his commute to De Beauvoir Town.
