De Beauvoir Town joins together in fight against coronavirus
Our friends at the De Beauvoir Association (DBA) have been rallying the De Beauvoir Town community to help support those most in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
Polly Billington, along with Scarlette Lesma, Anna Webb and the DBA, is coordinating over 175 local volunteers who have offered to support vulnerable members of the community.
The volunteers have been organised into 14 ‘pods’ covering every corner of De Beauvoir Town. Anyone looking for help and support (or just a friendly chat) can call or Whatsapp the central phone number - 07394 075 597 - and the enquiry will then be passed to the nearest ‘pod leader’ who will put their team into action to help as appropriate.
The Government’s advice is to stay at home, except for limited purposes, including to “provide care or to help a vulnerable person” and all volunteers should follow this guidance.
The DBA team and volunteers are not able to advise on health matters, and anyone requiring medical advice or guidance should call the NHS on 111 or visit https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19. Further coronavirus advice can be found at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
Find out more about the DBA, how you can get involved or get help, at www.debeauvoir.org.uk or email the team on info@debeauvoir.org.uk.
